Natsværmeri

In 20XX I contacted Bent Fabricius-Bjerre to ask if he could be interested in making an album together with my string ensemble, LiveStrings. He said yes immediately and I am so grateful for that. Bent and I had played together previously a couple of times, eg. for the theme melody of the movie ‘Mens Vi Lever’ by Brødrene Avaz, and it had been such a pleasure for me. I knew, of course, that he was a well renowned composer but, being from Norway, I didn’t grow up with his music like most Danes do. If I had known how big a star, personality and talent he really was, I’m not sure I would have dared to ask!
But fortunately I did and we made this wonderful album together - the first album to be released in LiveStrings own name. We made interpretations of old melodies and Bent also made new original compositions.
Natsværmeri was released in 2018 with Bent himself on the piano and soloists Michala Petri (recorder), Mathias Heise (harmonica) and Bjarke Mogensen (accordion). The release concert was set in a sold out DR concert hall and the year after, in 2019, we made a tour around the biggest concert halls in Denmark, also with great succes.

It was a big loss when we all had to say goodbye to Bent in 2020, as he passed away in July.
This year, in 2021, LiveStrings commemorate him with a line of tribute concerts all over Denmark. We bring with us Eddie Skoller, Trine Pallesen, Mathias Heise, Nicolai Kornerup and David Springborg. Bent’s music will never die, it will always live on to touch hearts and inspire artists. We hope to be a part of this everlasting movement and to give thought to the one and only Bent Fabricius-Bjerre.

Soleima

In 2018 Soleima asked Nicolai Kornerup and I to join her for a very special concert at Heartland Festival. This was the beginning in to a long and exiting journey for the three of us! For Heartland we made a set-up with two strings, piano and accordion. It worked so well and we had so much fun, so not long after we decided to make it into an entire string album. The chance to make this a reality presented itself in the midst of lockdown 2020 in Denmark, where we locked ourselves into the studio and buried all Covid-related troubles in new music.
The album is released in 2021 and consists of some of Soleimas previously released songs as well as new songs, some of these co-wrote in Wooden Box Studio together with Nicolai and I. Nicolai produced the album and we made all string arrangements together.
In July and September we hit the road and bring the music out into the world with Soleima, a sextet of strings and piano/accordion.

Wooden Box Studio - strings, keys and production

Wooden Box Studio was established in 2019 and is the official studio of LiveStrings. I share the space with producer, composer and multi-intrumentalist, Nicolai Kornerup. We specialize in string arrangements and string recording but also handle mixing, production and song-writing on a regular basis. Besides providing strings Nicolai has a great selection of synths, guitars, bass and piano.
